Dear Parents and Guardians,
We're excited to kick off the 2025-26 school year next week! If you haven't already done so, please scan the QR Code and download the Madison App as soon as possible! This will ensure that you receive important messages from your school and/or your child's teacher(s).
We're looking forward to utilizing our new two-way communication platform to keep you connected with your child's teachers and our school staff! Though some staff may begin using Rooms prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year, as a district, we plan to use the Rooms platform for communication beginning August 21, 2025, the first day of school.
Communication Hours
While you can send messages anytime to your child's teacher(s), you may receive specific communication information from your child's teacher(s) detailing their communication hours and a general time frame of when you can expect a reply. For urgent matters outside of these dedicated communication times, please contact the child's school office directly.
We believe this platform will continue to be a valuable tool for quick questions, sharing updates, and fostering a strong home-school partnership.
Thank you for your continued support!
Sincerely,
The Madison Communication & Engagement Team

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please be aware that we have had to increase our prices for breakfast and lunch, and the new prices will be as follows:
Lunch (Grades 9-12) = $3.75
Lunch (Grades K-8) = $3.50
Breakfast (Grades K-12) = $2.25
Lunch (Adults) = $4.75
Breakfast (Adults) = $3.00
The increases are a result of the significant increases in food costs outpacing any increases we have made in pricing over time. The Food Service department is self-funded, therefore it must maintain a positive cash balance without relying on any general fund dollars.
We understand that meal costs are a challenge for some, so if you qualify financially for free or reduced meals, you can receive assistance. Those who had Free/Reduced meals at the end of the 2024-25 school year that status will carry forward until October 3. However, unless you are Directly Certified (see below), you are required to reapply for approval prior to October.
We will run Direct Certification for Free or Reduced meals. Direct Certification connects with the State database for assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, etc., which can result in automatic Free/Reduced status. If you are Directly Certified, you will be notified in August. Free/Reduced Meal applications can be completed within PaySchools or on paper. Links to both are available on the Food Service webpage.
https://www.mlsd.net/page/food-servicesAdditionally, our meal menus are available online as well. The menus can be accessed directly on the web or by downloading the MySchoolMenus app.

Here is the video for last night's board meeting.
Main topics included:
- Mrs. Ferini recapped the High School Spanish students' trip to Costa Rica
- Mr. Stevens explained the Board's resolution to convert the District's property tax levies into an earned income tax that would tax the earned income of residents who have W2 income. The earned income tax would not affect residents who receive Social Security, disability, or Welfare income.

Dear Madison Local School District Families,
We are writing to inform you that FinalForms, the platform we use for registration and compliance, recently identified and responded to an incident involving unauthorized access to a small number of user accounts in our district and many others.
The issue was promptly investigated and contained. It’s important to emphasize that no student data remains at risk. The incident was carried out by a lone actor who gained access using legitimate login credentials previously compromised in unrelated, external breaches (such as PowerSchool, Chegg, Yahoo, etc.). These credentials were the same as those set by the account owner in FinalForms. The incident did not result from any vulnerability within the FinalForms platform.
FinalForms identified the source of the unauthorized access, isolated the lone actor using a controlled environment, established direct contact, and obtained a full confession. During a live, recorded session, the individual permanently deleted the accessed data under FinalForms' supervision. FinalForms continues to actively monitor all systems to ensure the ongoing security of student information. No action is required on your part at this time.
FinalForms and our district remain fully committed to protecting the privacy and security of student data in compliance with all federal and state requirements, including FERPA and the Student Data Privacy Agreement (SDPA).
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Board of Education office at 419-589-2600.
Thank you for your trust and continued support.
Sincerely,
Rob Peterson
