The Madison Early Childhood Learning Center school age programs are Gold Star awarded SUTQ (Step Up to Quality) rated programs through the Ohio Department of Children and Youth. Our programs provide every child with experiences which serve as a foundation for successful adaptation for life in the home, at school during the day, at MECLC, and in the community.

These experiences are provided through group and individual activities for both adult-directed and self-directed activities. We encourage children to be actively involved in many concrete hands-on activities to provide meaningful learning experiences. Children in our school age programs are able to experience activities that provide scaffolding while using their school day experiences to assist them with their learning. School age students are provided with activities that are created and implemented using the Ohio K-12 standards, supplemented with social and emotional, recreational, and health and safety goals. Informal assessments are conducted during every planned activity and individual goals are documented on an as needed basis. Both of these are stored in the child’s portfolios.

We provide 3 separate programs for school age children:

Latchkey

Our Latchkey (before/after school programs) serve children Kindergarten through 4th grade. They are housed at Eastview, Mifflin, and Madison South Elementary Schools.
The hours are Monday-Friday 6:30am-8:30am and 3:30pm-6:00pm. The Latchkey program follows the Madison Local School District academic calendar. If a child is suspended from school they may not attend the Latchkey program during that time. Charges for Latchkey will still accrue. We offer AM only, PM only and AM/PM options.
AM ONLY Latchkey students may attend during delays, but PM ONLY students may not.
PM ONLY Latchkey students may attend during early release, but AM ONLY students may not.

RAMS Club

RAMS Club is a separate school age program located at the Madison Early Childhood Learning Center building location that provides child care for children during snow days and/or planned closed school days. The program serves children from 5 years old to 12 years old (Kindergarten through 6th grade). Children must be enrolled in this program in advance. They are not automatically enrolled in this program unless the parent requests it at the beginning of the school year. Space is very limited in the RAMS Club program.

SUMMER RAMS

SUMMER RAMS is a separate school age program located at the Madison Early Childhood Learning Center building location that provides child care for children during the summer months. The program serves children from 5 years old to 12 years old (Kindergarten through 6th grade). Children enrolled in SUMMER RAMS get to experience many fun summer activities and learning experiences from classroom visitors to Field trips and water days!

Latchkey, RAMS Club and SUMMER RAMS are 3 separate programs. Children MUST be enrolled in each program separately to use them.
