School Age Program

The MECLC school age program is a 5-Star awarded SUTQ (Step Up to Quality) rated program through the Ohio Department of Education. The Madison Early Childhood Learning Center school age program provides every child with successful experiences which serve as a foundation for successful adaptation for life in the home, while at their school during the day, at MECLC, and in the community.

These experiences are provided through group and individual activities for both adult-directed and self-directed activities. Children must be actively involved in many concrete experiences for learning to be meaningful. Children in the school age program are able to experience activities that provide scaffolding while using their school day experiences to assist them with their learning. School age students are provided with activities that are created and implemented using the Ohio K-12 standards, supplemented with social and emotional well-being, recreational skills, and health and safety skills. Informal assessments are conducted during every planned activity, and individual goals are documented on an as needed basis. Both of these are stored in the child’s portfolios.

Children in the Latchkey (before/aftercare) school age program range in age from 5 years old to 10 years old (Kindergarten to 4th grade), and children in the RAMS Club range in age from 5 years old to 12 years old (Kindergarten to 6th grade). We have a Latchkey school age program at the Mifflin, Eastview, and Madison South Elementary School buildings. The hours are Monday-Friday 6:30am-8:30am / 3:30pm-6:00pm. The Latchkey program follows the Madison Local School District academic calendar.

The RAMS Club is a separate school age program located at the MECLC building location that provides childcare for children during snow days or planned closed school days. Children must be enrolled in this program in advance. They are not automatically enrolled in this program unless the parent requests it at the beginning of the school year. Space is very limited in the RAMS Club program.

The school age program consists of a Latchkey (before/aftercare) program, RAMS Club, and a summer school age program. For more information about any of these school age programs, please contact Mrs. Heather Addington, Program Coordinator at [email protected] or 419-589-7851 (ext. 6205).
