FAQ and General Information

  • What is College Credit Plus?
    • College Credit Plus allows students to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities.
  • Who is eligible? 
    • Students in grades 7-12 who meet college readiness standards and are accepted into the college or university are eligible for the CCP program
  • What steps does my student need to take?
    • Students and Families must notify their school counselor of their intent to participate in CCP no later than April 1. Students must submit intent forms yearly, even if the student participated in the previous school year. 
    • Each university has its own application process to admit students to the CCP program.  This includes: 
      • Completing a college application and submitting a transcript
      • Submit test scores as required, i.e. ACT or ACCUPLACER
      • Meeting eligibility requirements for specific courses
  • Applying to the college is the student’s responsibility. Students must meet all admission requirements and deadlines of the college and high school.
    • After acceptance, contact the college to register for classes. Print and submit a copy of the college schedule to your school counselor prior to the first day of school.
  • How much does College Credit Plus cost? 
    • Public universities cannot charge a student who takes College Credit Plus courses unless the student fails the course.  Private universities may charge a percentage of tuition. 
  • How do college courses earn students high school credit?
    • Successful completion of a 3 or more credit-hour college course will equal 1 high school credit.  A two credit-hour course will earn students 2/3 of a high school credit and a one credit hour course will result in 1/3 of a high school credit. 
  • Who is responsible for the purchase of textbooks? 
    • Students should check with the Madison library to see if the school already has a copy of the textbook required for the course. Should the student need to purchase a book, they can pick up a voucher from the college bookstore, and the high school will be billed.
  •  Probation and Dismissal
    • Students can be placed on probation or dismissed based on being identified as an underperforming student. 
  • CCP Acceptance 
    • You can be accepted into a college’s CCP program and not be eligible for some classes.  This includes the CCP courses that are held at the high school. 
  • Students taking CCP courses at the High School
    • Eligibility requirements for classes that will be completed AT THE HIGH SCHOOL must be met no later than April 6, 2023.
